Product Variant Reorder — Shopify App
Introduction
Product Variant Reorder is a Shopify embedded application that lets you define a custom sequence for variant option values and apply that order across products from the Shopify admin, including rollback when supported. This policy describes what data the App uses and how it is handled on our infrastructure.
Data we access from Shopify
The App requests only these Shopify Admin API access scopes: read_products and write_products. Through those APIs and related GraphQL queries, the App accesses data needed to:
- Read products and variants, including option names, option values, positions, and identifiers required to reorder variants.
- Update variant ordering when you start a reorder job or a rollback job in the App.
- Read aggregate product count information used only to enforce the free-tier catalog limit shown inside the App.
- Determine active subscription or billing state through Shopify for plan limits and upgrade flows. The App does not collect or store payment card numbers; billing is handled by Shopify managed pricing where applicable.
The App does not request scopes for orders, customers, checkout, or storefront visitor analytics. It does not read or write buyer personal data or order records for its main features.
Data we store on our servers
We keep the following in our own PostgreSQL database on Heroku:
- Sessions: records required for Shopify OAuth and session storage, including your shop identifier, access tokens, granted scopes, and token expiry metadata. When Shopify’s session payload includes staff-related fields, those may be present in the stored session row as supplied by Shopify.
- Reorder jobs: for each job, fields such as shop domain, job type (reorder or rollback), option name, desired value order, status, progress counts, technical logs, and optional data used to perform a rollback after a completed reorder.
Standard web hosting logs on our provider may include timestamps, IP addresses, and error diagnostics needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use this data
We use the data above only to:
- Authenticate the App to Shopify and run your requested jobs;
- Show job history and live progress in the admin interface you see;
- Apply free-tier and paid-plan rules that are described inside the App;
- Maintain security, fix faults, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your store data or use it to run third-party ads. The App does not add marketing trackers to your online storefront for shoppers.
Storage and security
The application and database run on Heroku with HTTPS for browser and API traffic. Updates to catalog data are written through Shopify’s APIs and remain under your Shopify account.
Uninstall and retention
When you uninstall the App, Shopify sends an app/uninstalled webhook and we delete session rows for your shop so our servers no longer hold valid access tokens for that installation. Reorder job rows for your shop may remain in the database after uninstall unless we delete them in response to a support request or other lawful process. Any variant ordering changes already applied in Shopify stay in your catalog until you change them again in the admin.

Mandatory Shopify compliance webhooks
The App registers Shopify’s mandatory compliance webhook endpoints for customers/data_request, customers/redact, and shop/redact as required for public distribution. The App’s core processing is catalog-oriented in the admin; it is not designed to build a database of your customers or their orders for reordering.
Third-party services
- Heroku — application hosting and PostgreSQL database.
- Shopify — OAuth, Admin GraphQL API, embedded admin, and app billing through Shopify where you subscribe to a paid plan.
We do not integrate separate advertising or behavioral analytics products into this App for merchant browsers or customers.
Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy occasionally. The current version always appears on this page with the last-updated date below.
